Las Vegas marijuana laws 2019

420 Friendly Hotels Las Vegas

If you are coming to Las Vegas you probably are interested in what is legal and what is not. Most Las Vegas tourists are coming to the city specifically to participate in an activity that is either illegal or difficult to find in their home town. The city was basically created through legal gambling, where the attraction for tourists was the ability to gamble without fear of getting arrested. Of course you could have an illegal card game in your home, but Las Vegas allowed it in public and in the open, which attracted those who were unwilling to risk arrest or stigmatization. Prostitution is also a lure of Las Vegas, although a misunderstanding of the law does have the ability to get you into trouble. Prostitution is legal in the rural communities in Nevada but not in Las Vegas itself, these rules being determined by the population of the county. If the population is over a certain amount, prostitution is not legal. While Las Vegas has the reputation for prostitution being available, and there are plenty of prostitutes walking the streets in Las Vegas, you are not going to be able to find a legal brothel in the city. To participate in prostitution you are going to have to go outside of Las Vegas about 20 miles. If you solicit a prostitute inside of Las Vegas, you run the risk of arrest. There are many laws in Las Vegas that are misunderstood specifically because the city markets itself as being a place where anything goes, but nothing is further from the truth.

When recreational marijuana was legalized in Nevada, it meant that anyone over 21 years old with an ID would be able to buy limited amounts from a legal dispensary. Even though it is available to purchase, there are strict regulations on the sale, possession and use of it. Just because you can buy it legally does not mean that you can use it legally, so it is important to understand the limitations on marijuana before you come to Las Vegas, in order to avoid potential difficulties and legal issues. The dispensaries are heavily regulated, and have many rules regarding their operation. You are not going to find any dispensaries on the strip. There are many sources that will give you access to the dispensary nearest you, where you can purchase a limited amount. There are strict regulations on how and where you can use it though.

You cannot legally smoke or consume marijuana in any public place, and if you get caught doing so it will result in a $600 fine. Marijuana is also banned on the strip and in all gaming properties. Tourists cannot smoke pot in any resort grounds or attached hotel rooms. There is currently legislation that is being debated that would create cafes that would be legal for use of marijuana, but at the current point in time there are no spaces like this that are legal. The only place that you are legally allowed to consume marijuana in Las Vegas is inside a private residence, and the police interpret this to also mean driveways and patios. You are allowed to smoke pot in houses, condos and apartments but not hotel rooms.

It is not actually illegal to smoke pot in off-strip, non-gaming hotel rooms. Generally the decision is going to be made by the ownership of the hotel, the same way that smoking cigarettes is allowed in rooms that are designated as “smoking.” You will usually need to pay an extra charge, and there will be limited amounts of these rooms if any. If the hotel has a non-smoking policy that you violate, you may have to pay extra fees and potentially will be asked to leave the hotel. With that said, one of the biggest questions that is currently being asked in online spaces is “are there any 420 friendly hotels in Las Vegas?”

There are numerous air BNB’s as well as private residences that are available for rent on websites that market themselves as 420 friendly. A few of these are pet friendly as well, and some offer luxuries that you will probably not find in average hotel rooms. They are generally more expensive than a typical rental, and you are going to pay more for the privilege of renting an entire home instead of just a room. If you are seeking hotels in Las Vegas that advertise themselves as 420 friendly, there is currently only one, The Artisan. This is a boutique hotel that is known for being out of the ordinary, and it is located about 4 blocks from the strip. There are also about 20 hotels in Las Vegas that offer either balcony smoking or in-room smoking options, but none of them are specifically advertising themselves as 420 friendly. You are basically renting a smoking room and using it to smoke a legal substance just like tobacco. While they probably won’t call the cops, it is important to contact the hotel first that you choose to make sure that you are allowed to smoke marijuana, and not just tobacco. Here is the list of hotels in Las Vegas that offer rooms that are friendly for smokers, or balconies where smokers can do their thing:
