11 Jan Can I Take Legal Las Vegas Marijuana Home With Me?
You came to Las Vegas and had the time of your life. You gambled, partied and did things here that you probably wouldn’t want the people back home to know about. That’s what Vegas is all about, and we want you to have a good time while you are in our city. We also don’t want you to get in trouble back home, because they don’t necessarily have the same attitude towards things that we do here. Weed is a perfect example of this, and even though Nevada is one of the first states to legalize the use of marijuana for recreational use, it doesn’t mean that our attitudes are shared by your home state. Just because you didn’t get busted for buying weed here, doesn’t mean that you can’t get busted for possessing it somewhere else. The laws even get trickier with regards to states where it is also legal like California. Even though it is legal to purchase in both states, you are not allowed to transport it over state lines because that is violation of federal law. It might seem illogical, but you can only use the cannabis that you have purchased in one state inside that state.
So you are finishing your vacation and you still have some weed left over from the amount you purchased legally from a dispensary in Las Vegas. Can you bring that weed home with you on the plane, or in your car if you drove here? The answer is no. You are never allowed to cross state lines with marijuana of any kind, and generally you will be stopped at the airport as you are leaving. Chances are that you will be asked to simply throw away the amount that you have left, but naturally there are going to be cases where you get into more trouble. While you probably won’t get into much trouble here, there is a really good chance that you will get into trouble when you land. The cops know that people traveling from Las Vegas have a propensity to try and smuggle some extra home with them, so they are going to be looking for you. The best thing that you can do is not try to fool anyone, and just use the legal amounts you have been able to buy while you are here. If you have some left over, just dispose of it.
If you are driving across state lines with marijuana in the car, there is a good chance that you can be stopped and searched. Transportation of marijuana across state lines is a serious crime, and can have some serious consequences. Our best advice is to never do it, but if you get caught and arrested on transportation charges call us first. We are familiar with both state and federal marijuana laws, and will be able to defend you in court.
The best thing to do with regards to marijuana in Las Vegas is to legally buy it from a dispensary, take it to a private residence and use it while you are here. Anything else can get you into trouble, and it isn’t worth it.
